{"id":801270,"date":"2019-11-12T17:21:16","date_gmt":"2019-11-13T00:21:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/?p=374399"},"modified":"2019-11-12T17:21:16","modified_gmt":"2019-11-13T00:21:16","slug":"details-still-scarce-in-breckenridge-shooting-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/local-news\/details-still-scarce-in-breckenridge-shooting-investigation\/","title":{"rendered":"Details still scarce in Breckenridge shooting investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/Shooting-SDN-110819-1024x683.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>BRECKENRIDGE \u2014 Progress is being made into the investigation regarding the death of Brendan Rye last week, though things are still moving slowly, according to officials.<\/p>\n<p>At about 9:45 p.m. Nov. 6, the Breckenridge Police Department <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/news\/one-man-shot-another-dies-following-altercation-in-breckenridge-on-wednesday-night\/\">responded to a call regarding a gunshot<\/a> in the 1000 block of Grandview Drive. Officers discovered two injured people at the scene, including <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"29-year-old Brendan Ry (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/news\/police-identify-man-killed-in-breckenridge-during-wednesday-night-altercation\/\" target=\"_blank\">29-year-old Brendan Rye<\/a>, who was found unresponsive with significant injuries and later died at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood.<\/p>\n<p>The other person, who suffered a gunshot wound in the leg, has since been identified as 35-year-old Miles Tovar of Breckenridge, according to Fifth Judicial District Attorney Bruce Brown. There was a third person on scene who called the police but was uninjured, according to the Breckenridge Police Department.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Brown said little has happened from a legal perspective since the incident. He said a Boulder County pathologist performed an autopsy Friday on Rye. Representatives from the Breckenridge Police Department, the District Attorney\u2019s Office and the Summit County Coroner\u2019s Office attended the autopsy.<\/p>\n<p>While the move represents progress, Brown said the results will be analyzed at length before investigators are ready to come to any conclusions, a process he said could take weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of the law enforcement and investigative agencies involved are collaborating in the process of developing a complete investigation, and determining the circumstances that played out resulting in this young man\u2019s death,\u201d Brown said. \u201cI expect that process will take weeks, not days, in order to reach a conclusion about how the fatality occurred in a definitive manner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brown obviously noted that Rye\u2019s cause of death was not natural but said his office is still considering whether the case could be considered a homicide chargeable in court.
