{"id":801438,"date":"2019-11-16T09:30:13","date_gmt":"2019-11-16T16:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/?p=374448"},"modified":"2019-11-16T09:30:13","modified_gmt":"2019-11-16T16:30:13","slug":"breckenridge-considers-adding-bus-stops-to-breckenridge-free-ride","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/local-news\/breckenridge-considers-adding-bus-stops-to-breckenridge-free-ride\/","title":{"rendered":"Breckenridge considers adding bus stops to Breckenridge Free Ride"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"p402_hide\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<div class=\"caption-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/06\/Brf-Buses-SDN-061119-1.jpg\" alt class=\"wp-image-367192\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/06\/Brf-Buses-SDN-061119-1.jpg 620w, https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/06\/Brf-Buses-SDN-061119-1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\"><figcaption><strong>Breckenridge Town Council hears proposed changes to certain bus routes.<\/strong><br \/><em>File Photo \/ Summit Daily News<\/em><\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>BRECKENRIDGE \u2014 At Breckenridge Town Council\u2019s Tuesday, Nov. 12, work session, council was presented with a potential new transit plan for the Breckenridge Free Ride buses.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer Pullen, assistant director of the Public Works department, explained the proposed changes are intended to provide clear information, make public transit the first choice for people to get around Breckenridge and keep the town moving on busy days.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though there is a really efficient network, there are some places where we can improve,\u201d Pullen said.<\/p>\n<p>Pullen explained to council what Public Works knows about the current system, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>People use public transit because of parking<\/li>\n<li>The ski area is a top destination<\/li>\n<li>Bus stop signs are key points of information for potential riders<\/li>\n<li>A higher frequency of bus pickups would encourage more riders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The proposed changes to the Yellow Route, which will be renamed the Airport Route, include serving City Market in both directions and adding frequent service from Beaver Run loop to and from Breck Station.<\/p>\n<p>The Purple Route, which will be renamed to the Wellington Route, is also proposed to serve City Market and be simplified to a counterclockwise-only route.
