Richardson \/ The Denver Post<\/em><\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Colorado drivers now rank among the worst in the country, thanks to rising rates of scofflaws and speeders, according to an annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carinsurancecomparison.com\/which-states-have-the-worst-drivers\/\">analysis from Car Insurance Comparison<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Colorado drivers ranked as the 6th worst in the nation in 2019, down from 15th&nbsp;worst in 2017 and 2018, according to the study, which relied on 3,000 data points compiled from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cColorado dropped, got worse, in every category since last year\u2019s study,\u201d said spokesman Nelson Garcia.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the first time Colorado has cracked the 10 worst driver rankings since the company\u2019s study launched in 2011, although <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2016\/12\/01\/colorado-drivers-bad-insurance\/\">other rankings have put Colorado in the camp of the states where drivers perform poorly.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The study found that Colorado drivers ranked third-worst for \u201cfailure to obey\u201d violations, things such as not wearing a seat belt, running a red light or driving without a valid license. That\u2019s down from 18th worst.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2019\/12\/09\/colorado-drivers-6th-worst-country\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Read the full story at denverpost.com.
