{"id":803263,"date":"2020-01-21T08:22:34","date_gmt":"2020-01-21T15:22:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=940329"},"modified":"2020-01-21T08:22:34","modified_gmt":"2020-01-21T15:22:34","slug":"ozzy-osbourne-reveals-parkinsons-disease-diagnosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/ozzy-osbourne-reveals-parkinsons-disease-diagnosis\/","title":{"rendered":"Ozzy Osbourne Reveals Parkinson\u2019s Disease Diagnosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/OzzyOsbourne.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/ozzy-osbourne\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ozzy-osbourne\" data-tag=\"ozzy-osbourne\">Ozzy Osbourne<\/a> revealed Tuesday that he is battling Parkinson\u2019s disease in an interview on <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodmorningamerica.com\/culture\/story\/ozzy-osbourne-opens-parkinsons-diagnosis-family-helped-back-68416861\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Good Morning America<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The singer received the diagnosis last February after a string of health setbacks, including a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/ozzy-osbourne-staph-infection-745005\/\">near-deadly staph infection<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/ozzy-osbourne-recovery-interview-871983\/\">a fall that damaged<\/a> his nervous system. He\u2019s treating the disease with medication. Ozzy said that he felt guilty holding back the diagnosis from his fans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI found out I have a mild form of \u2026 what is it?\u201d the singer asked his wife, Sharon, in the interview. \u201cPRKN 2, which is a form of Parkinson\u2019s,\u201d she said. \u201cThere\u2019s so many different types of Parkinson\u2019s. It\u2019s not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination, but it does affect certain nerves in your body. It\u2019s like you have a good day, a good day and then a really bad day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Osbourne said he has been experiencing other symptoms as well that may or may not stem from Parkinson\u2019s. \u201cI got a numbness down this arm for the surgery; my legs keep going cold,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t know if that\u2019s the Parkinson\u2019s or what, you know, but that\u2019s \u2014 see, that\u2019s the problem. Because they cut nerves when they did the surgery. I\u2019d never heard of nerve pain, and it\u2019s a weird feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> <!-- .l-article-content__pull--left --> <\/p>\n<p>Sharon said that in April Ozzy would be seeing a professor in Switzerland who helps people with their immune systems so they can help differentiate and distinguish the causes of his symptoms. \u201cWe\u2019re going to go wherever we can go to seek answers,\u201d she said. Ozzy added, \u201cWe\u2019re lucky enough to be able to afford to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ozzy said that talking about the disease made him feel as though a weight had been lifted. \u201cI feel better now that I\u2019ve owned up to the fact that I have a case of Parkinson\u2019s,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd I just hope [my fans] hang on and they\u2019re there for me because I need them.\u201d He called his fans his \u201cair.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that he cannot wait to get back on the road. \u201cI ain\u2019t done yet,\u201d he said. \u201cI ain\u2019t gonna go anywhere yet.\u201d He\u2019s scheduled to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ozzy.com\/tours?path=events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">return to North American arenas<\/a> for another leg of his No More Tours 2 tour this spring, beginning with a show in Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/ozzy-osbourne-recovery-interview-871983\/\">Rolling Stone<\/a> <\/em>last August, Osbourne detailed just how difficult his recovery had been. \u201cFor the first, say, four months, I was absolutely in agony,\u201d he said. \u201cI was in agony beyond anything I ever experienced before in my life. It was awful. I\u2019m taking physical and occupational therapy classes, but the progress is&nbsp;<em>very<\/em>&nbsp;slow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During his time recovering, he recorded a guest appearance on Post Malone\u2019s song \u201cTake What You Want.\u201d The experience inspired him to make a new album, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/ozzy-osbourne-elton-john-post-malone-ordinary-man-album-935909\/\">Ordinary Man<\/a><\/em>, which will come out next month.
