Foo Fighters\u2019 Taylor Hawkins fronted the surviving members of the Doors<\/a> for a bluesy performance of \u201cLove Me Two Times\u201d in 2016. The performance is part of The Doors: Break on Thru<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> an upcoming concert documentary honoring the late keyboardist Ray Manzarek<\/a>, who died from cancer<\/a> in 2013.<\/p>\n

In the clip, Hawkins takes Jim Morrison<\/a>\u2019s lead vocals on the 1967 song, backed by Doors guitarist Robby Krieger<\/a> and drummer John Densmore<\/a>. They\u2019re joined by Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert DeLeo as well as Foo Fighters keyboardist Rami Jaffee, who plays Manzarek\u2019s iconic parts. \u201cLove me two times, babe\/\u2019Cause I\u2019m goin\u2019 away,\u201d Hawkins sings, ending in a howl while shaking a maraca.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to get emotional,\u201d Densmore says in an exclusive interview from the documentary. \u201cI\u2019ve been listening to Ray\u2019s playing ever since he passed, and [I\u2019m] just amazed by his ability to split his mind into two musicians \u2014 bass player and keys \u2014 and all of these licks. So gifted, so unique. There\u2019s no one like him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Filmed at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles in 2016<\/a>, the concert documentary will screen at theaters worldwide for one night only, on February 12th \u2014 what would have been Manzarek\u2019s 81st birthday. The documentary also features Jane\u2019s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins, Paul McCartney guitarist Brian Ray, X\u2019s Exene and John Doe, Gov\u2019t Mule\u2019s Warren Haynes, and singer-songwriter Andrew Watt. On Thursday, Krieger and Densmore will perform with Nirvana\u2019s Krist Novoselic at the Homeward Bound charity concert at the Wiltern in Los Angeles. Although the duo performing together is a rare occurrence, Densmore told Rolling Stone<\/em> <\/a>they haven\u2019t rehearsed: \u201cI\u2019m used to it! Corralling musicians is like corralling cats.\u201d<\/p>\n
