{"id":803408,"date":"2020-01-24T03:57:50","date_gmt":"2020-01-24T10:57:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=942308"},"modified":"2020-01-24T03:57:50","modified_gmt":"2020-01-24T10:57:50","slug":"chromatics-release-three-versions-of-new-song-toy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/chromatics-release-three-versions-of-new-song-toy\/","title":{"rendered":"Chromatics Release Three Versions of New Song \u2018Toy\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/shutterstock_editorial_10465026k.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/chromatics\/\" id=\"auto-tag_chromatics\" data-tag=\"chromatics\">Chromatics<\/a> have followed up last year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/chromatics-closer-to-grey-hear-stream-893019\/\"><em>Closer to Grey<\/em><\/a> album with a new single, \u201cToy.\u201d The pulsating, cinematic song, produced by Johnny Jewel,&nbsp; was released in three versions, the original, a stripped down version called \u201cToy (On Film)\u201d and an instrumental edition called \u201cToy (Instrumental).\u201d All three versions can be heard on Spotify <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/7iBjDjhBf5eijDWqIQkoSU\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a song about trying to forget someone you\u2019re still in love with even though they treat you like an object,\u201d singer Ruth Radelet said in a statement. That sentiment is reflected in the lyrics as she croons, \u201cTell me what I have to do\/ \u2018Cause I can\u2019t stop thinking of you\/ Tell me what I have to say\/ \u2018Cause I can\u2019t go on living this way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chromatics recently dropped a 47-track deluxe edition of <em>Closer To Grey, <\/em>which includes alternate takes of several tracks, remixes and instrumentals of all the songs on the album. <em>Closer to Grey, <\/em>released in October as a surprise album, arrived after seven years of delayed releases and fraught circumstances for the band. The band had previously announced in December 2014 that their <em>Kill for Love<\/em>&nbsp;follow-up would be titled&nbsp;<em>Dear Tommy <\/em>and would arrive in 2015. That album has since been delayed several times.
