{"id":803439,"date":"2020-01-24T14:42:02","date_gmt":"2020-01-24T21:42:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=942799"},"modified":"2020-01-24T14:42:02","modified_gmt":"2020-01-24T21:42:02","slug":"david-lynch-and-a-monkey-just-released-a-seven-inch-of-torch-ballads","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/david-lynch-and-a-monkey-just-released-a-seven-inch-of-torch-ballads\/","title":{"rendered":"David Lynch and a Monkey Just Released a Seven-Inch of Torch Ballads"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/david-lynch-monkey.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\">Earlier this week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/david-lynch\/\" id=\"auto-tag_david-lynch\" data-tag=\"david-lynch\">David Lynch<\/a> surprise-released a characteristically bizarre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/movies\/movie-news\/david-lynch-new-netflix-short-film-940171\/\">short film, <i>What Did Jack Do?<\/i><\/a> in which he plays a hardboiled cop interrogating an unlikely murder suspect: a monkey named Jack Cruz.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>Not only does Jack talk back to the cop in the film, he also sings, and now Lynch and the suit-wearing monkey have released a special seven-inch single via Sacred Bones.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Written by Lynch and Dean Hurley, both tracks \u2014 \u201cTrue Love\u2019s Flame\u201d and \u201cDancin\u2019 in the World of Love\u201d \u2014 are hilariously sentimental ballads filled with slow, soft drums and saccharine strings. Jack\u2019s voice is a ridiculous back-of-the-throat croon and it\u2019s truly a joy to close your eyes and envision a tiny monkey singing, \u201cI\u2019m walking with you\/I\u2019m walking in the world of love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cTrue Love\u2019s Flame\u201d and \u201cDancin\u2019 in the World of Love\u201d are both available to stream and purchase digitally via <a href=\"https:\/\/davidlynch.bandcamp.com\/album\/the-flame-of-love\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">BandCamp<\/a>. A physical seven-inch 45 RPM vinyl single is also available to preorder, and will be released this spring.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><i>What Did Jack Do?<\/i> marked Lynch\u2019s first project since the third season <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/tv\/tv-news\/why-twin-peaks-the-return-was-the-most-groundbreaking-tv-series-ever-115665\/\">revival of <i>Twin Peaks<\/i><\/a>.
