Performs New Song \u2018Sometimes\u2019 at the Grammys"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/GettyImages-1202184010W.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>H.E.R. performed her new ballad \u201cSometimes,\u201d produced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/d-mile-producer-grammy-profile-lucky-day-her-934015\/\">by the R&amp;B ace D\u2019Mile<\/a>, at the 62nd Grammy Awards on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>She was accompanied by four horn players and four string players; the extra instrumental muscle helped fill out the spare piano melody of \u201cSometimes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a plan, I had it mapped out,\u201d H.E.R. sang. \u201cI knew where I was going when I left out.\u201d During the bridge, the singer abandoned the piano to play a stirring, ornate guitar solo; she also played a few of these during Pepsi commercials that ran periodically throughout the evening.<\/p>\n<p>H.E.R., a.k.a. Gabi Wilson, won two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/grammys\/\" id=\"auto-tag_grammys\" data-tag=\"grammys\">Grammys<\/a> last year, taking home Best R&amp;B Album for her self-titled compilation LP (which was also nominated for Album of the Year) and Best R&amp;B Performance for \u201cBest Part.\u201d Her track \u201cFocus\u201d was also nominated for Best R&amp;B Song. This year, the singer earned five nominations, including Record of the Year for \u201cHard Place\u201d and Album of the Year for <em>I Used to Know Her<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Even though H.E.R. is just 22, she\u2019s been in the music business for many years already. \u201cIt\u2019s one thing to be able to sing well, but another to be an artist and find your own voice within music,\u201d Wilson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/h-e-r-on-her-influences-and-her-future-927691\/\">told&nbsp;<em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> this past December. \u201cAnd that\u2019s what the goal was for me in my teenage years. I had to find myself. As a young woman, I experienced high school and heartbreak, and the music I started to write was a little bit more poetic, and more inspired by spoken word. The real raw emotional things that sit in the back of our minds, that you were afraid to say? That\u2019s how I started to write my music. And that\u2019s how <em>H.E.R.
