The run-up to Justin Bieber<\/a>\u2018s fifth studio album has been an emotional Bieber-coaster.<\/p>\n

First, he tried to galvanize his fanbase to stream his comeback single, \u201cYummy,\u201d<\/a> as it fell to the second spot the Rolling Stone<\/em> Top 100 Songs<\/a> chart and the Billboard<\/em> Hot 100 thanks to the viral success of Roddy Ricch\u2019s \u201cThe Box.\u201d Then, last week, the pop singer cried next to his wife Hailey Baldwin and long-time manager Scooter Braun at the unveiling of his new project<\/a> for music industry insiders.<\/p>\n

Now, the latest move in the Bieber rollout is the first episode of the 10-part self-produced documentary, Justin Bieber: Seasons<\/em>. During the 11-minute intro, Bieber goes back to his childhood home in Stratford, Ontario, as he comes to terms with his present and past ahead of his next album.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s been challenging over the years is a lot of the time I\u2019d make music and it would be for me,\u201d Bieber explains. \u201cWhen the focus and the goal is about yourself, you tend to lose your purpose in that. The older that I get, the more I realize I\u2019m not utilizing my gift for the right reasons. It\u2019s not about me. It\u2019s about helping someone who\u2019s going through whatever they\u2019re going through.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier in the documentary, Braun describes what led Bieber to cancel the remaining 15 shows of 2017\u2019s Purpose tour<\/a> and how it\u2019s shaped the new phase of his career. \u201cEarly on in his career, we\u2019d always say \u2018Let\u2019s go for another one, let\u2019s go for another hit, another record, another thing, another tour,’\u201d Braun said. \u201cBefore Purpose<\/em> with Journals<\/em>, I didn\u2019t want him to tour. I wanted him to get healthy. Then he got healthy and we went on Purpose<\/em>. Then at the end, he was tired\u2026I don\u2019t put any pressures on that timeline anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the L.A. playback of the new album, Bieber described the project as telling his story of \u201cgrowth from a boy to a man.\u201d The first episode of Seasons<\/em> hammers home this narrative, focusing on the \u201cgood headspace\u201d of its protagonist, while also teasing songs heavily inspired by Bieber\u2019s recent marriage.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Rolling Stone<\/em>, Seasons<\/em> director Michael Ratner<\/a> shared how Bieber\u2019s wedding to Baldwin will feature heavily in the coming episodes.  \u201cYou\u2019ll see build-up and wedding planning, and then you\u2019ll just see them together and in their everyday life,\u201d Ratner says. \u201cWhen nobody\u2019s around and they\u2019re at the house, the cameras just start to blend in when you\u2019re there as frequently as we are.\u201d<\/p>\n
