The show, which originated in the U.K. before moving to Broadway and opened at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles earlier this month, is an original musical with lyrics and music by Sting. For the late night performance, the musician played acoustic guitar and joined in on vocals with members of the cast.<\/p>\n<p>During his appearance, Sting also joined Corden to discuss how he\u2019s won 17 Grammys during his career. When asked where he keeps them, Sting replied, \u201cIn a very discreet place.\u201d He added, \u201cThey\u2019re somewhere in my house in England. They\u2019re in a nice room\u2026 You have to go and look for them.\u201d He also admitted that he polishes them \u201cnow and then.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3VP53KncK5Y?version=3&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;autohide=2&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>The Last Ship<\/em>, which is inspired by Sting\u2019s 1991 album <em>The Soul Cages<\/em>, is currently playing in Los Angeles at the Ahmanson Theater and continues through February 16th. Tickets are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centertheatregroup.org\/tickets\/ahmanson-theatre\/2019-20\/the-last-ship\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">available now<\/a>. The musical <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/stings-the-last-ship-to-close-on-broadway-170922\/\">closed on Broadway<\/a> in 2015 after 105 performances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was writing songs for other characters than me, other sensibilities than mine, a different viewpoint,\u201d Sting&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/09\/15\/arts\/music\/sting-frees-himself-with-the-writing-of-the-last-ship.html?pagewanted=all\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">told the&nbsp;<em>New York Times<\/em><\/a> a few years ago about how <em>The Last Ship<\/em>&nbsp;morphed from a conventional album into a blueprint for a musical. \u201cAnd so all of that pent-up stuff, all of those crafts I\u2019d developed as a songwriter, I was suddenly free to explore without much thinking, actually. It just kind of came out as a kind of Tourette\u2019s, a kind of projectile vomiting.
