Alicia Keys<\/a> appeared on The Ellen<\/a> Show<\/em> to perform her new single \u201cUnderdog\u201d and also took the opportunity to talk about her reaction to Kobe Bryant\u2019s death ahead of Sunday\u2019s Grammys.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnderdog\u201d comes off Keys\u2019 upcoming eighth album Alicia<\/em><\/a>, which will be released March 20th, and the singer told Ellen DeGeneres why she decided to name the album after herself. \u201cI couldn\u2019t think of anything, obviously, and so I just went with that,\u201d Keys said of the title. \u201cTruly, I\u2019ve realized that I\u2019ve never been more fully myself. And I\u2019ve never been more fully Alicia than I am in this moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer also spoke about hosting the Grammys following the news of Bryant\u2019s death in a helicopter crash. \u201cWe were all freaking out because obviously hearing the news about Kobe and his daughter was so tragic and none of us can still believe it right now to this day,\u201d Keys said. \u201cIt was definitely a crazy feeling because literally minutes before we were going to do something else and we had to really figure out, \u2018How could we properly honor him in his house on this night?’\u201d<\/p>\n

She added of the onstage tribute<\/a>, \u201cIt just so happened that Boyz II Men was there already that night and we wanted to do something special and create something that felt like it was the right thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
