Lamb of God<\/a> vocalist Randy Blythe<\/a> and dub pioneer Lee \u201cScratch\u201d Perry have joined forces for \u201cLions,\u201d a new single they contributed to art collective\/supergroup Saudade<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The track opens with a peaceful interlude of Perry speaking, as Blythe takes over on vocals. \u201cHoney dripping through the ceiling\/On the shifting blue below,\u201d he sings. \u201cTheir beauty stings in floating dreams\/That let the poison flow.\u201d He uses his heavy-metal vocals to scream through the chorus: \u201cWe\u2019ve been pushed to this\/We kill with a kiss.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat an incredible honor for me to be working with these legends,\u201d Blythe wrote on his Instagram.<\/a> \u201cAt almost 49, for once, I get to be \u2018the kid\u2019 in the band (the other vocalist is 83 years old). These are serious, SERIOUS, heavy-duty players; the talent on this recording is pretty freaking insane \u2014 the sonic impact of Lee \u2018Scratch\u2019 Perry alone as an artist, producer, & mixer on modern music itself, regardless of genre, simply cannot be overstated. It doesn\u2019t sound anything like my band, but that\u2019s the point of working with other musicians on different projects.\u201d<\/p>\n

Saudade \u2014 a term in Portuguese used to describe longing and melancholy \u2014 consists of Deftones\u2019 Chino Moreno, bassist Chuck Doom, Bad Brains\u2019 Dr. Know, John Medeski (Medeski Martin and Wood), and others. Their self-titled debut single<\/a> was released in 2016. The collective dropped the EP Shadows & Light\/Sanctuary Dub<\/em><\/a> in 2019.<\/p>\n
