Louis Tomlinson<\/a> appeared on The Tonight Show<\/a><\/em> to perform his new single \u201cWalls.\u201d<\/a> For the heartfelt rendition, Tomlinson was joined by a backing band, including a string section, as he crooned, \u201cNothing wakes you up like waking up alone\/ And all that\u2019s left of us is a cupboard full of clothes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWalls\u201d comes off Tomlinson solo debut album<\/a> of the same name, which is out now. \u201cIt took me a second to get here,\u201d the singer told Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> of finally releasing the album after One Direction went on hiatus in 2015. \u201cSo it\u2019s a bit of a relief. Because there was a lot of treading water.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI feel like I\u2019ve been swimming against the tide a little bit. When I took the leap of faith to go, \u2018All right, I\u2019m going to do something on my own,\u2019 it took me a second to work out exactly what that was going to be. A lot of people, when they\u2019re first starting out, they develop in the background, trying different things. But obviously, I had to do that a little bit more publicly. That\u2019s been definitely been challenging at times. So I\u2019m relieved to have an album that I\u2019m really proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n
