Morrissey<\/a> has unveiled a dramatic new song, \u201cLove Is on Its Way Out,\u201d from his upcoming album, I Am Not a Dog on a Chain<\/i>, out March 20th via BMG.<\/p>\n

The track boasts cavernous drums and a prickly synth arpeggio that periodically veers into atmospheric spaces while still steadily building to a climactic peak. Morrissey\u2019s vocals carry their characteristic heft and his lyrics seem less about heartbreak \u2014 as the title might suggest \u2014 than global chaos: \u201cLove is broken down, it\u2019s on its way out,\u201d he sings, \u201cDid you see the sad rich\/Hunting down, shooting down elephants and lions?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLove Is on Its Way Out\u201d marks the second single from I Am Not a Dog on a Chain<\/i>, following \u201cBobby, Don\u2019t You Think They Know?\u201d<\/a> which features R&B great Thelma Houston. Morrissey recorded I Am Not a Dog<\/i> in Saint-R\u00e9my-de-Provence, France, with producer Joe Chiccarelli. The LP marks Morrissey\u2019s first album of original music since 2017\u2019s Low in High School<\/i>. He dropped his covers album California Son<\/i><\/a> in 2019.<\/p>\n

Amid the steady stream of music he\u2019s released over the past few years, Morrissey has garnered increasing scrutiny for his politics, particularly an endorsement of the far-right party, For Britain, which was founded by the anti-Islam activist Anne Marie Waters (last year, he performed on The Tonight Show<\/i> wearing a For Britain pin).<\/p>\n
