Dave Mustaine<\/a> said he is \u201c100 percent\u201d cancer-free during Megadeth<\/a>\u2019s concert at the SSE Arena in London Friday, January 31st.<\/p>\n

About halfway through the band\u2019s set, Mustaine told the crowd about his throat cancer diagnosis<\/a> last year, which he was given right as Megadeth was recording their new album. \u201cAt first, I thought, \u2018Am I afraid?’\u201d Mustaine recalled. \u201cAnd then I said, \u2018No. I\u2019m fucking pissed.\u2019 And we stopped the record, we stopped everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mustaine said he underwent 51 radiation treatments and nine chemotherapy treatments after his diagnosis, noting that he was determined to beat the disease so he could play music again. Mustaine also spoke about how important prayer was for him during this time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know a lot of you guys know that I pray,\u201d he told the crowd. \u201cI say that in [Megadeth\u2019s] \u2018Peace Sells\u2019. I pray every day. I say that in the song. I\u2019ve said it since the second record. But I thought about you guys every day, too. And I thought about my family. And I got this power from you guys. And I just kept thinking about it. And on October 16th, I went to go see the doctor, and he said, \u2018You\u2019re 100 percent free of cancer.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Megadeth\u2019s European tour will continue through February and, so far, the band has yet to announce any other shows for this year. Megadeth also hasn\u2019t offered any updates on their as-yet-untitled 16th album, although Mustaine is prepping a new book<\/a> about the band\u2019s seminal 1990 album, Rust in Peace<\/i>. Mustaine co-wrote the book, Building the Perfect Beast<\/i>, with Joel Selvin, and it\u2019s set to arrive September 8th.<\/p>\n
