Big Thief<\/a> stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/a> to perform their song \u201cShoulders\u201d on the late night show\u2019s indoor stage. The track, which comes off the group\u2019s recent album Two Hands<\/em><\/a>, got an impassioned, moody performance with a stark background and little over-the-top production.<\/p>\n

Last year Big Thief dropped two albums, Two Hands<\/em> and U.F.O.F., <\/i>within five months of each other. The band\u2019s reasoning for releasing two albums in one year is that Two<\/em> Hands <\/em>is the \u201cearth twin\u201d to U.F.O.F.<\/em>\u2018s \u201ccelestial twin.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think we\u2019ve hit a point yet where we\u2019ve had to make our rebellion record,\u201d  singer Adrianne Lenker told Rolling Stone<\/em> last year<\/a>. \u201cBut in a way, all the music I make is dealing with that and pushing away from that. I do think this album is doing that, in the sense that we\u2019re disregarding all of it. All the ideas. All the constructs. All the expectations that anybody might have. We\u2019re just not thinking about them.\u201d She added, \u201cWith each record, I feel like our sound has gotten more articulate.\u201d<\/p>\n

Big Thief are currently on tour in Europe and the U.K., and will head to Japan, Australia and New Zealand in May. The band is scheduled to perform at Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island on July 31st.<\/p>\n
