{"id":803993,"date":"2020-02-09T09:19:50","date_gmt":"2020-02-09T16:19:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=949859"},"modified":"2020-02-09T09:19:50","modified_gmt":"2020-02-09T16:19:50","slug":"see-john-frusciante-perform-with-red-hot-chili-peppers-members-for-first-time-since-reunion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/see-john-frusciante-perform-with-red-hot-chili-peppers-members-for-first-time-since-reunion\/","title":{"rendered":"See John Frusciante Perform With Red Hot Chili Peppers Members for First Time Since Reunion"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/rd.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/john-frusciante\/\" id=\"auto-tag_john-frusciante\" data-tag=\"john-frusciante\">John Frusciante<\/a> performed alongside his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/red-hot-chili-peppers\/\" id=\"auto-tag_red-hot-chili-peppers\" data-tag=\"red-hot-chili-peppers\">Red Hot Chili Peppers<\/a> band mates Saturday for the first time since they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/john-frusciante-rejoins-red-hot-chili-peppers-josh-klinghoffer-927387\/\">announced their surprise reunion<\/a> as Anthony Kiedis, Flea and the guitarist took the stage together at a Tony Hawk Foundation memorial for Andrew Burkle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">The Chili Peppers members \u2014 joined onstage by Jane\u2019s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins in place of Chad Smith \u2014 performed a short set of Iggy Pop\u2019s \u201cI Wanna Be Your Dog\u201d and Gang of Four\u2019s \u201cNot Great Men,\u201d as well as their own \u201cGive It Away.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZV5G-UHCvtw?version=3&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;autohide=2&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Flea recently revealed, in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/flea-tribute-gang-of-four-andy-gill-946663\/\">his tribute to Gang of Four guitarist Andy Gill<\/a>, that the first thing he recorded with Frusciante since the guitarist\u2019s return was a Gang of Four cover for an upcoming tribute album.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Frusciante also joined former Chili Peppers guitarist Dave Navarro \u2014 who replaced Frusciante after his first RHCP defection \u2014 onstage during a brief Jane\u2019s Addiction set for a rendition of that band\u2019s \u201cMountain Song.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/k8xaBGvQqRU?version=3&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;autohide=2&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cToday we celebrated the life of Andrew Burkle. A perfect example of&nbsp;Andrew\u2019s magnetism was displayed this afternoon when this all-star lineup came together to perform&nbsp;Iggy Pop&nbsp;and&nbsp;GANG OF FOUR&nbsp;(and&nbsp;RHCP) songs in his honor.
