Marshall has put a pause on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/yellowcard\/\" id=\"auto-tag_yellowcard\" data-tag=\"yellowcard\">Yellowcard<\/a>\u2019s pending lawsuit against late rapper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/juice-wrld\/\" id=\"auto-tag_juice-wrld\" data-tag=\"juice-wrld\">Juice WRLD<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/yellowcards-juice-wrld-suit-paused-by-judge\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">According to Pitchfork<\/a>, who obtained court documents relating to the case, Marshall has ordered a stay until a representative for Juice WRLD\u2019s estate is appointed.<\/p>\n<p>Yellowcard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/yellowcard-sue-juice-wrld-lucid-dreams-holly-wood-died-copy-902142\/\">originally filed<\/a> a multi-million dollar lawsuit in October against Juice WRLD, claiming the rapper\u2019s hit \u201cLucid Dreams\u201d copied their 2006 song \u201cHolly Wood Died.\u201d Along with Juice WRLD (real name Jarad A. Higgins), the suit named as co-defendants \u201cLucid Dreams\u201d co-writer Taz Taylor (real name Danny Lee Snodgress, Jr.) and producer Nick Mira, along with their respective publishing entities. BMG Rights Management, the song\u2019s publisher, was also named, along with Juice WRLD\u2019s record label, Grade A, and its parent company, Interscope. Yellowcard are seeking damages in excess of $15 million.<\/p>\n<p>The suit hit a snag following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/juice-wrld-dead-obit-923765\/\">rapper\u2019s death<\/a> on December 8th. The day following his death Yellowcard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/juice-wrld-yellowcard-lawsuit-lucid-dreams-929339\/\">made clear their intention<\/a> to pursue the legal matter by extending a deadline for defendants to respond to the lawsuits from December 9th until February 4th, 2020. Marshall initially ordered both parties in the suit to notify the court whether \u201csubstitution of the proper party\u201d would be necessary and the defendants are the ones who requested the stay. Now Marshall has set a deadline of April 13th for a status update on the probate proceedings, according to Pitchfork.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the Cook County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office released the results of Juice WRLD\u2019s autopsy, ruling his cause of death to be an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/juice-wrlds-death-ruled-an-accidental-overdose-924075\/\">accidental overdose<\/a>.
