The set was similar to the one they played at the hall earlier in the week, but it did contain the first performance of <em>The Who Sell Out<\/em>\u2018s \u201cTattoo\u201d since 2008. The song was also part of their set at Leeds back in 1970.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy wife has tattoos of dogs and fairies and various things,\u201d Pete Townshend told the crowd before playing the song. \u201cThe other day, she said \u2018my back aches\u2019 [and I was like] \u2018there\u2019s a fucking tattoo!\u2019 I hadn\u2019t seen. That shows how often we have sex. Anyway, apparently we\u2019re playing \u2018Tattoo.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Who have been playing with locals orchestras over the past year, but these were special shows where Daltrey and Townshend were joined only by bassist Phil Spalding, guitarist\/vocalist Simon Townshend, background signer Billy Nicholls and percussionist Jody Linscott. The shows featured the first performances of \u201cBreak The News\u201d and \u201cShe Rocked My World\u201d from their new LP <em>Who.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Former Who audio engineer Bob Pridden, who worked with the group continuously from 1966 to 2016, recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/who-live-at-leeds-interview-951916\/\">spoke to <em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> about recording Live at Leeds. \u201cThat\u2019s when they were on fire,\u201d he said. \u201cThe were working all the time and just on top of their game. As a unit of just four people, a band couldn\u2019t be any better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Who will return to the road on March 16th for a tour of European arenas.
