The National<\/a>, Kurt Vile<\/a>, Damien Rice<\/a> and more have contributed cover tracks to Songs For Australia<\/em>, a compilation album put together by Julia Stone to benefit brush fire relief efforts. Stone, an Australian singer-songwriter best known as one half of brother-sister duo Angus & Julia Stone, brought together local and international bands for the album, out March 5th on digital and in June on CD and vinyl.<\/p>\n

The National\u2019s contribution is a cover of INXS\u2019 \u201cNever Tear Us Apart\u201d while Vile has taken on Nick Cave\u2019s \u201cStranger Than Kindness.\u201d Other covers include Sia\u2019s \u201cChandelier\u201d by Rice, Nick Cave\u2019s \u201cShip Song\u201d by Martha Wainwright, Matt Corby\u2019s \u201cResolution\u201d by Dermot Kennedy and The Go-Betweens\u2019 \u201cStreets Of Your Town\u201d by Dope Lemon, a band from Stone\u2019s brother Angus.<\/p>\n

Stone has released her own track, a cover of \u201cBeds Are Burning\u201d Midnight Oil, along with a music video that pays tribute to Australian culture and wildlife. The song was originally meant as a one-off release, but she got such a good reception that it has expanded to an entire album.<\/p>\n

\u201cI received the most heart-warming replies from the biggest, busiest artists in the world,\u201d Stone said in a statement. \u201cMost of these artists have toured here, have family here, friends here, have lived here or spent time here. Everyone has such great memories of this country and to see it in flames was breaking everyone\u2019s hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n
