Sufjan Stevens<\/a> and his stepfather Lowell Brams (yes, of Carrie and Lowell<\/em><\/a> fame) have collaborated on a new album called Aporia<\/em>, out March 27th via Asthmatic Kitty. On Wednesday, the pair shared their latest track from the album, \u201cThe Runaround.\u201d<\/p>\n

The New Age-y, semi-instrumental track comes with a music video<\/a> featuring slow-motion footage of Bike Life<\/a> riders, cruising and popping wheelies on ATVs and dirt bikes. It\u2019s not the most conventional activity to be soundtracked by Sufjan Stevens, but the video looks great nonetheless.<\/p>\n

Stevens and Brams previously shared another Aporia<\/em> track, \u201cThe Unlimited,\u201d earlier this month. This won\u2019t be the first time the duo have collaborated \u2014 they previously released the 2008 instrumental LP Music for Insomnia<\/em> as part of Asthmatic Kitty\u2019s now retired Library Catalogued Music Series<\/em>. According to a press release, Stevens and Brams have worked on Aporia<\/em> over the past few years during Brams\u2019 visits to Stevens\u2019 house.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know how it is with jamming,\u201d Stevens said of their sessions, \u201cNinety percent of it is absolutely horrible, but if you\u2019re just lucky enough, 10 percent is magic. I just kept pulling out these little magical moments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, Stevens released two new songs<\/a> for Pride Month, \u201cLove Yourself\u201d<\/a> and \u201cWith My Whole Heart.\u201d In 2017, he released the song \u201cTonya Harding,\u201d<\/a> and collaborated with Nico Muhly, James McAlister and the National\u2019s Bryce Dessner on the album Planetarium<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Stevens also penned the score to Justin Peck\u2019s 2017 ballet The Decalogue<\/em>, which was later recorded by Timo Anders on the piano and released as an album by the same name in 2019.<\/p>\n
