However, soon after its release, \u201cHunting Season\u201d was withdrawn from services as the song\u2019s subject matter drew similarities to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/pop-smoke\/\" id=\"auto-tag_pop-smoke\" data-tag=\"pop-smoke\">Pop Smoke<\/a>\u2019s murder earlier in the week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWhen I think of these rappers, I wanna go huntin\u2019,\u201d Jadakiss says on the track, which was inspired in part by Ignatius \u201cIcePick\u201d Jackson, the rapper\u2019s close friend who died in 2017 from cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u2018Hunting Season\u2019 was a request that IcePick Jay (RIP) always had and in light of his death me and [Jadakiss] made an incredible song,\u201d Pusha T wrote on Instagram Friday. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWith that being said, the whole concept of hunting season and the hypothetical ideas of \u2018killing rappers\u2019 isn\u2019t [sitting] well with me while mourning the recent death of Pop Smoke. Rest in peace Pop and condolences to his family.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B82Cv5vHFb1\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"12\" readability=\"-4.9110169491525\"><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It\u2019s unclear whether the \u201cHunting Season\u201d removal is temporary or permanent, and if the track will still feature on <em>Ignatius<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Pop Smoke, born Bashar Jackson, was shot and killed Wednesday in Los Angeles when masked gunmen broke into the house where the Brooklyn rapper was staying; Jackson suffered a gunshot wound to the chest during the incident.
