Coldplay\u2019s<\/a> Chris Martin<\/a> goes back to his schoolyard days in the band\u2019s new music video<\/a> for \u201cChampion of the World.\u201d<\/p>\n

Directed by French filmmaker Clo\u00e9 Bailly and filmed in Los Angeles, the clip sees the Coldplay frontman portraying a little boy who gets bullied at school, berated by his parents and ostracized by everyone around him \u2014 but finds solace through music and imagination.<\/p>\n

The song \u201cChampion of the World\u201d features a co-writing credit from the late Frightened Rabbit<\/a> frontman Scott Hutchinson. According to Martin, Hutchinson\u2019s solo track \u201cLos Angeles, Be Kind\u201d was a major inspiration for the song.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I first heard [\u2018Los Angeles, Be Kind\u2019], I thought it was going to go one way; but it went another,\u201d Martin said<\/a> when the single was first released. \u201cAnyway \u2018Champion of the World\u2019 is the song that came from following the other path, and that\u2019s why Scott is a co-writer on this song.\u201d<\/p>\n

Everyday Life<\/em> dropped last November. Previous singles from the LP include \u201cOrphans,\u201d<\/a> \u201cArabesque,\u201d <\/a>the title track<\/a>, \u201cDaddy\u201d<\/a> and \u201cCry Cry Cry,\u201d<\/a> which was accompanied by a music video directed by Martin\u2019s partner Dakota Johnson.<\/p>\n
