Unsurprisingly, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/sza\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SZA<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/megan-thee-stallion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Megan Thee Stallion<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/normani\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Normani<\/a> \u2014 <em>Rolling Stone\u2019s<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/sza-megan-thee-stallion-normani-march-2020-cover-955203\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cWomen Shaping The Future\u201d cover<\/a> stars \u2014 were plenty aware of this fact.<\/p>\n<p>During an interview for \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/the-first-time\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-first-time\" data-tag=\"the-first-time\">The First Time<\/a>\u201d video series, each of the stars discuss how their grandmothers factored into the moment when it felt like they had made it. \u201cThe first time I feel like I ever made it was when my grandma saw me on TV,\u201d Megan begins. \u201cShe was telling all her friends, and then she called me. Now I got to come to the house. Now everybody\u2019s at the house like, \u2018We saw you on TV.\u2019 \u201c<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Normani shares that performing for her grandmother during a hometown Houston show was a highlight of her career. In contrast, SZA reveals that her grandmother wasn\u2019t aware that she was a professional singer, before explaining how it still doesn\u2019t feel like the cover trio have \u201cmade it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI still don\u2019t feel like I made it,\u201d the Top Dawg Entertainment singer explains. \u201cI told my grandma I was in school for so long until she saw me on TV, and then I was like, \u2018I don\u2019t know\u2019 \u2026 This is the precipice of our careers, of our life stories, of our journeys, so we\u2019re making it currently, and every day it\u2019s, like, growing exponentially. We\u2019re just curating our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later in the episode, the cover stars discuss their experiences as black women in the industry and meeting each other for the first time.
