David Byrne<\/a> returned to Saturday Night Live<\/a><\/em> for the first time in 31 years to present songs from his American Utopia<\/em> stage show<\/a> as well as reunite with Sack Lunch Bunch<\/em> cast mate<\/a> John Mulaney for a Broadway pastiche about airport sushi.<\/span><\/p>\n

Byrne opened his SNL<\/em> musical guest spot \u2014 his first since 1989 \u2014 with the American Utopia<\/em> rendition of Talking Heads<\/a>\u2019 classic \u201cOnce in a Lifetime,\u201d with the singer and his barefoot troupe delivered a joyous take on the Remain in Light<\/em> single.<\/span><\/p>\n

For his second performance, Byrne and company once again drew from their now-completed-but-returning Broadway musical with \u201cToe Jam,\u201d a Byrne-penned track that was originally released in 2008 via Fatboy Slim\u2019s Brighton Port Authority project.<\/span><\/p>\n
