Flavor Flav<\/a> lashed out at Chuck D<\/a> after the Public Enemy<\/a> MC dismissed the longtime hypeman<\/a> from the group partially over a spat over Public Enemy\u2019s set<\/a> at a Bernie Sanders campaign rally Sunday.<\/p>\n

Public Enemy was billed at the rally as \u201cPublic Enemy Radio,\u201d an offshoot of the group that includes Chuck D, DJ Lord, Jahi and S1Ws but not Flavor Flav. Still, two days before the rally, Flavor Flav sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Sanders campaign, accusing it of using the hypeman\u2019s \u201cunauthorized likeness, image and trademarked clock,\u201d to promote the rally, even though Flavor Flav hadn\u2019t endorsed a candidate. Public Enemy issued a statement Sunday saying they would be \u201cmoving forward\u201d without Flavor Flav, effectively firing the veteran member after more than 35 years.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Flavor Flav responded to the dismissal, tweeting<\/a> at Chuck D, \u201cAre you kidding me right now??? Over Bernie Sanders??? You wanna destroy something we\u2019ve built over 35 years OVER POLITICS??? All because I don\u2019t wanna endorse a candidate, I\u2019m very disappointed in you and your decisions right now Chuck.\u201d<\/p>\n

Flavor Flav continued: \u201cAnd @MrChuckD, I didn\u2019t sue you on Friday, I asked the @BernieSanders campaign to correct misleading marketing, that\u2019s all it was. I\u2019m not your employee, I\u2019m your partner, you can\u2019t fire me, there is no Public Enemy without Flavor Flav, so let\u2019s get it right Chuck.\u201d<\/p>\n

Flavor Flav also hit Chuck D for insinuating<\/a> he was abusing alcohol or drugs, saying he\u2019d been clean for 10 years and \u201cbattled addiction before like millions of other Americans\u2026 Chuck you know better than to lie about shit like that.\u201d That comment, as well as Flav\u2019s denial that he sued Public Enemy, was prompted by a Sunday tweet<\/a> from Chuck D, in which he suggested the hypeman would\u2019ve performed at the Sanders rally had Public Enemy been paid for the gig. \u201cHe will NOT do free benefit shows,\u201d Chuck D wrote. \u201cSued me in court the 1st time I let him back in. His ambulance lawyer sued me again on Friday & so now he stays home & better find REHAB.\u201d<\/p>\n
