The Weeknd<\/a> continues to blur reality and fiction with his new short film After Hours<\/em>, a promo for his upcoming album<\/a> that builds on the singer\u2019s increasingly meta visuals.<\/span><\/p>\n

After Hours<\/em> picks up in the immediate moments after the Weeknd\u2019s \u201cBlinding Lights\u201d performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/em> in January<\/a>, with Abel Tesfaye exiting the stage and wandering backstage before he embarks on a disorienting walk through Los Angeles.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the video progresses, the Weeknd\u2019s mental state gradually declines, culminating in a scene in a subway station where the singer\u2019s body is taken over by unseen forces. After Hours<\/em> concludes with a grim scene that insinuates that the Weeknd murders a young couple in an elevator.<\/span><\/p>\n

The five-minute visual was directed by Anton Tammi, who also helmed the Weeknd\u2019s videos for \u201cHeartless<\/a>\u201d and \u201cBlinding Lights<\/a>.\u201d After Hours the album arrives March 20th.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Weeknd previously staged a fourth wall-shattering performance on The Late Show<\/em> in December<\/a> as the singer sang his then-new single \u201cHeartless\u201d while navigating the halls of the Ed Sullivan Theater before finally arriving onstage for the song\u2019s closing. <\/span><\/p>\n

With the Weeknd booked for Saturday Night Live<\/em> this weekend<\/a>, it\u2019s safe to expect another nontraditional late-night performance from Tesfaye.<\/span><\/p>\n
