For all her goofy singles \u2013 and there\u2019s been<\/a> a lot<\/a> of them<\/a> \u2013 Katy Perry<\/a> has a way of working a ballad when she needs to. On Wednesday night, she released her latest, \u201cNever Worn White.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the tender piano-led ballad, Perry addresses her fears about getting married. \u201cBut I\u2019m scared \u2019cause I\u2019ve never worn white, but I wanna get it right,\u201d Perry sings on the chorus. \u201cYeah I really wanna try with you\/No, I\u2019ve never worn white\/But I\u2019m standing here tonight, \u2019cause I really want to say, \u2018I do.’\u201d In the romantic clip, she appears both in white and also in a dress fashioned with flowers. It ends with a stunning shot of Perry sweetly caressing her baby bump. \u201cLet\u2019s just say it\u2019s going to be a jam packed summer,\u201d she wrote on Twitter<\/a> to announce the song.<\/p>\n

Perry released a string of singles last year including \u201cNever Really Over,\u201d<\/a> \u201cSmall Talk,\u201d<\/a> \u201cHarleys in Hawaii\u201d<\/a> and the holiday song \u201cCozy Little Christmas,\u201d<\/a> but she spent the better part of 2019 fighting a legal battle over her 2013 single \u201cDark Horse.\u201d In July, Perry and her label Capitol Records were ordered to pay $2.78 million in damages to Christian rapper Flame and two of his co-writers for improperly copying Flame\u2019s 2009 song \u201cJoyful Noise\u201d<\/a> on her song. Perry and Capitol later filed an appeal<\/a> to the verdict.<\/p>\n
