Jane Birkin teamed up with Iggy Pop<\/a> for a cover of her 1969 duet with Serge Gainsbourg<\/a>, \u201cElisa,\u201d on The Tonight Show<\/a><\/em>. The pair took on song, which comes off Jane Birkin et Serge Gainsbourg, <\/em>in French with the help of a backing band that included Questlove on drums.<\/p>\n

Birkin appeared on The Tonight Show<\/em> ahead of her symphonic review<\/a> \u201cBirkin Gainsbourg The Symphonic Starring Jane Birkin,\u201d which takes place Friday at New York City\u2019s Beacon Theatre. Pop and Charlotte Gainsbourg are both scheduled to appear as special guests during the event.<\/p>\n

Pop\u2019s most recent album, Free<\/em>, dropped last fall. The singer will release test-pressings of Free<\/em><\/a> on March 7th, which are limited to 340 copies. Maurizio Cattelan, his creative collaborator, designed the cover art. Also included is a 7-inch of \u201cBrahms Lullaby\u201d and \u201cEpistle to Tromba,\u201d two unreleased tracks. Pop and Cattelan will appear at a signing at New York\u2019s Perrotin gallery on March 7th.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week Pop released a music video<\/a> for his song \u201cWe Are the People,\u201d which comes off Free<\/em>, in honor of the late Lou Reed\u2019s birthday. The song was was derived from a poem written by Reed in 1970 and Pop told the BBC, \u201cThat totally resonated with me. Like, \u2018wham\u2019, like \u2018pow\u2019. I thought, \u2018My God, this is the country today as I understand it, or at least one legitimate portrayal of the country today.\u2019 It really spoke to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
