Cupcakke<\/a> has returned with her first solo single since last July, a biting track called \u201cLawd Jesus.\u201d On the song, the rapper discusses shedding old ways for a new outlook as she continues to succeed, but her past seems to try to continue to hold her down.<\/p>\n

\u201cFuck all my old friends, I\u2019m not tryna make amends,\u201d she raps, with a \u201cLawd Jesus\u201d refrain repeated during the chorus. \u201cI said, \u2018Mama, chill, we gonna win\u2019\/Money keep comin\u2019 in\/I\u2019m tryna change from back then.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cupcakke released two albums in 2018 \u2014 Ephorize <\/em>and Eden<\/em> \u2014 followed by just a few singles in 2019, including \u201cSquidward Nose,\u201d<\/a> \u201cBird Box,\u201d<\/a> \u201cAyesha\u201d<\/a> and a filthy \u201cOld Town Road\u201d remix<\/a>. Most recently, she appeared on a remix of the track \u201cRipe\u201d from Australian artist Banoffee\u2019s<\/a> debut album Look at Us Now Dad<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Chicago rapper announced that she would be retiring from music<\/a> on Instagram Live in 2019, only to return and reveal that she had signed an $8 million deal<\/a> in a now-deleted tweet. She\u2019ll be playing a live show<\/a> in Brooklyn on April 4th.<\/p>\n
