After taking a hiatus<\/a> from the spotlight for nearly two years after suffering an overdose<\/a>, Demi Lovato<\/a> gave back-to-back comeback performances in 2020, debuting a new song, \u201cAnyone,\u201d<\/a> at the Grammys before singing the National Anthem<\/a> at Super Bowl LIV the following week.<\/p>\n

On Thursday at midnight, the singer returned with the video for her first official new single since 2018, \u201cI Love Me.\u201d In the buoyant clip, the singer battles multiple versions of herself and also struts down a street contemplating the many insecurities that hold people down. Her confident stride and dancing showcases the resilience that\u2019s found in learning to love one\u2019s self.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Cause I\u2019m a black belt when I\u2019m beating up on myself\/But I\u2019m an expert at giving love to somebody else\/I, me, myself and I, don\u2019t see eye to eye,\u201d she sings. \u201cOh, why do I compare myself to everyone\/And I always got my finger on the self-destruct\/I wonder when \u2018I love me\u2019 is enough?\u201d<\/p>\n

Lovato recently appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show<\/em> to discuss the new single and her road to recovery. \u201cWe are good by ourselves,\u201d she said<\/a>, referencing her self-care routines that aid in her recovery from her relapse and eating disorder. \u201cWe don\u2019t need a partner, we don\u2019t need substances. We\u2019re good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before her overdose, Lovato released the song \u201cSober,\u201d<\/a> detailing her struggles with drugs and alcohol at the time and her relapse into addiction. When the singer toured with DJ Khaled, she offered fans free therapy sessions and wellness workshops<\/a> at each concert. Her most recent solo album was Tell Me You Love Me<\/a><\/i>, from 2017.<\/p>\n
