Nicole Atkins<\/a> takes chances with the sleek new song, \u201cDomino.\u201d The track is the second single off the singer-songwriter\u2019s upcoming album Italian Ice<\/em><\/a>, out April 17th on Single Lock Records.<\/p>\n

Inspired by Prince, the Rolling Stones\u2019 \u201cMiss You\u201d and the gritty glamour of Atkins\u2019 hometown of Asbury Park, New Jersey, the disco-tinged track relies on a heavy groove to deliver the message: <\/span>\u201cI\u2019m not gonna play\/safe and sound\/when the world comes tumbling down.\u201d<\/p>\n

Atkins dropped the album\u2019s lead single \u201cCaptain\u201d<\/a> last month, which featured Spoon\u2019s Britt Daniel on backing vocals and a vintage-inspired infomercial video.<\/p>\n

Italian Ice<\/em> follows 2017\u2019s Goodnight Rhonda Lee.<\/em><\/a> Produced by Ben Tanner, the album was recorded at the legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Alabama. Atkins recruited several musicians for the record, including Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds\u2019 Jim Sclavunos and Dave Sherman, veteran Muscle Shoals session players Spooner Oldham and David Hood, and the Dap-Kings\u2019 Binky Griptite. Daniel, Hamilton Leithauser and Carl Broemel co-wrote songs.<\/p>\n

This month, Atkins will embark on a tour<\/a> in support of Italian Ice<\/em> that extends through the summer. She\u2019ll stop at South by Southwest on March 20th and 21st, followed by several U.S. cities before heading to Europe in May.<\/p>\n

She\u2019ll return to North America in June, sweeping through several states including New York\u2019s Bowery Ballroom on July 9th. She\u2019ll conclude the trek in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on August 14th.<\/p>\n
