Hamilton Leithauser<\/a> gets a haircut from Maggie Rogers<\/a> in the teaser for \u201cIsabella.\u201d<\/a> The singer-songwriter also announced a new album, The Loves of Your Life<\/em>, out April 10th via Glassnote Records.<\/p>\n

The clip follows the video for \u201cHere They Come,\u201d in which Leithauser took a brutal beating from Ethan Hawke<\/a> after playing the actor his new song. He shows up to meet Maggie Rogers with a bandage across his face from the altercation. \u201cAs I was already on my way to play my song \u2018Isabella\u2019 for my writer-musician friend who happens to be pretty stylish, I figured I could kill two birds with one stone and hopefully get a little encouraging feedback and maybe a little trim,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

Rogers points out Leithauser\u2019s bandage, to which he replies, \u201cIt was just this guy, no big deal.\u201d The former Walkmen frontman plays her \u201cIsabella\u201d as she cuts his hair \u00e0 la Pete Wentz. Wearing a Chaka Khan t-shirt, Rogers makes note that she was six in 2000 when Leithauser started making music. \u201cIt must be kind of lonely now,\u201d she tells him, snipping away. \u201cIt\u2019s just you, right? You made this whole record alone?\u201d Leithauser slowly nods as tears well up in his eyes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIsabella\u201d is a dreamy, lighthearted track, featuring Leithauser\u2019s silky falsetto. \u201cWell it\u2019s after midnight,\u201d he sings. \u201cGonna find some friends\/gonna waltz up to 94th street\/in a wide-eyed trance.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Loves of Your Life<\/em> follows 2016\u2019s Had a Dream That You Were Mine<\/em>, which he made in collaboration with Rostam. \u201cI wrote these songs about individual people,\u201d Leithauser said in a statement. \u201cI wrote stories and I wrote music and then I matched them up. Not one story was originally intended for the music it ended up marrying. These are people I know, and strangers I\u2019ve come across in the last few years.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of the stories are based on some kind of truth, but I\u2019m not afraid to get loose with the facts,\u201d he added. \u201cMost are both fact and fiction, and some tilt pretty far in either direction. I guess people might call this \u2018creative nonfiction\u2019 or just \u2019embellished stories.\u2019 I wrote and recorded these songs in a studio I built for myself in New York. It\u2019s a tight New York kind of space, and I\u2019m jammed in with all sorts of instruments and equipment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leithauser also announced a tour in support of the album, kicking off in Nashville in May. He\u2019ll stop in several North American cities, stopping at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, New York, on August 8th before concluding in Philadelphia on August 14th.<\/p>\n
