Christina Aguilera<\/a> returns to her Disney<\/a> roots with \u201cLoyal Brave True,\u201d a new song from the live-action remake of Mulan<\/a><\/em>. The singer, a former Mickey Mouse Club member, made her charts debut in 1998 at the age of 16 with the song \u201cReflection\u201d from the original animated Mulan<\/em>. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe film Mulan<\/em> and the song \u2018Reflection\u2019 coincided with getting me my first record deal,\u201d Aguilera said in a statement. \u201cIt\u2019s amazing to come back to such an incredible movie that\u2019s full of power and meaning, and that meaning holds the test of time: staying true to yourself, being who you are, and teaching how to be fearless. My new song, \u2018Loyal Brave True,\u2019 represents the fine balance between vulnerability and strength.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The strings-and-piano ballad finds Aguilera drawing from themes of the story of Mulan<\/em>. \u201cWar is not freedom \/ Over my shoulder \/ I see a clearer view \/ All for my family \/ Reason I\u2019m breathing \/ Everything to lose,\u201d she sings. \u201cShould I ask myself in the water \/ What a warrior would do \/ Tell me underneath my armor \/ Am I loyal, brave and true?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Aguilera tweeted<\/a> Friday that, in addition to \u201cLoyal Brave True,\u201d she also recorded an updated version of \u201cReflection\u201d for the upcoming remake<\/a>, due out March 27th; although the James Bond film No Time to Die<\/em> pushed its theatrical opening from April to November<\/a> due to coronavirus concerns, Mulan<\/em> remains tied to its announced release date.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the two years since Aguilera released her 2018 LP Liberation<\/em>, the singer has kept busy with soundtrack songs, specifically for animated films: In September, Aguilera released the ballad \u201cHaunted Heart<\/a>\u201d from The Addams Family reboot. Prior to that, the pop star celebrated the 20th anniversary of her self-titled debut with several commemorative reissues<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
