DaBaby<\/a> issued an apology Sunday after video circulated of the rapper striking a female fan in the face prior to his Saturday afterparty concert in Tampa, Florida.<\/span><\/p>\n

Video from Tampa\u2019s Whiskey North posted by TMZ<\/a> shows DaBaby walking through the crowd when the female fan holds her cellphone \u2013 with the flash on \u2013 close to the rapper\u2019s face. The rapper is then seen striking the person in the face before quickly walking away.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to TMZ, soon after the assault, the crowd booed the rapper, who left the venue without performing a song. At press time, no charges were filed against DaBaby, real name Jonathan Kirk.<\/span><\/p>\n

DaBaby first acknowledged the incident on Instagram<\/a> \u2014 \u201cWho know shawty government name so my lawyer can get active?\u201d he wrote atop a still image of the assault video \u2014 before turning to his Instagram Stories to formally apologize to the victim, adding that he didn\u2019t know the person holding to phone (and who he claimed hit him in the eye) was a woman.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI do sincerely apologize. I do,\u201d DaBaby said. \u201cI\u2019m very sorry that there was a female on the other end of that flashlight on their phone. But you know, keep in mind, I couldn\u2019t see you because you got the flash this close to me. Which is okay, it\u2019s no problem. A lot of people did \u2014 they didn\u2019t put it as close as you put it \u2014 but a lot of people had flash on me, and that\u2019s okay. That\u2019s what I signed up for.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The rapper continued, \u201cBut out of all them fans\u2014how many people know how to zoom in? Just zoom in instead of popping me in the motherfucking eye with the phone. But I do apologize that there was a female on the other end. I think by this time, you know it\u2019s a well known fact that male or female, I would\u2019ve responded the same exact way.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The rapper then addressed his victim directly, \u201cI would love to apologize to you in person\u2026 I would love to make the situation better anyway I can.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the rapper was arrested<\/a> on robbery charges in Miami, which triggered an arrest warrant in Texas relating to battery charges. Prior to that, DaBaby was hit with marijuana charges in North Carolina, but that arrest ultimately resulted in a citation. <\/span><\/p>\n
