Taylor Swift<\/a> has already shared her process<\/a> for becoming \u201cThe Man\u201d for her latest music video<\/a> (in short: five hours of makeup and lots of eyebrow prosthetics), but on Tuesday the pop star released a new clip showing how her directorial debut came together.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe video concept for \u2018The Man\u2019 is something that I wrote after doing a lot of thinking about what the video would be,\u201d she says in an on-camera interview. \u201cI wanted to use a female director, but it just so happened that I couldn\u2019t really get it done in time with anybody else because everybody\u2019s busy. So I was like, \u2018You know, I know exactly what I want this video to be. I know exactly who I would use as DP [director of photography] and as AD [assistant director]. Why don\u2019t I just try this \u2014 directing for the first time, alone?\u2019 It just was the easiest and quickest way to get this video done the way that I wanted to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The clip shows Swift giving directions to the actors, her assistant director Joe \u201cOz\u201d Osbourne and her director of photography Rodrigo Prieto, who happens to be Martin Scorsese\u2019s<\/a> current go-to cinematographer. It\u2019s a neat look at how a high-production pop music video<\/a> comes together, with the added caveat that the video\u2019s director is not only its central star but also in full gender-bent makeup while planning out each shot.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s just so many incredible memories and so many hilarious experiences all packed into three days,\u201d Swift says. \u201cSo I had the best time.\u201d<\/p>\n
