{"id":805085,"date":"2020-03-10T11:30:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-10T17:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/?p=380232"},"modified":"2020-03-10T11:30:00","modified_gmt":"2020-03-10T17:30:00","slug":"aarp-accepting-community-challenge-grant-applications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/local-news\/aarp-accepting-community-challenge-grant-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"AARP accepting Community Challenge grant applications"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/NonprofitWebCard-SDN-1024x638.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Applications are being accepted for the AARP Community Challenge grant program, which aims to fund \u201cquick-action\u201d projects that spark change across the country, according to a news release.<\/p>\n<p>The program is open to nonprofits and government entities, and other types of organizations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n<p>AARP will prioritize projects that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increase civic engagement with innovative and tangible projects<\/li>\n<li>Create vibrant public places that improve open spaces, parks and access to other amenities<\/li>\n<li>Deliver a range of transportation and mobility options that increase connectivity, walkability, bikeability, wayfinding, access to transportation options and roadway improvements<\/li>\n<li>Support the availability of a range of housing that increases accessible and affordable housing options.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate the tangible value of \u201cSmart Cities\u201d with programs that engage residents in accessing, understanding and using data<\/li>\n<li>Other innovative projects to improve the community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The application deadline is 9:59 p.m. April 1, and all projects must be completed by Nov. 9.
