She previewed the record with lead single \u201cI\u2019m Alive,\u201d a collaboration with Wilco\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/jeff-tweedy\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jeff-tweedy\" data-tag=\"jeff-tweedy\">Jeff Tweedy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The laid-back track, which Tweedy co-wrote and produced, features the Wilco leader on acoustic guitar, electric guitar and bass. His son and frequent collaborator Spencer Tweedy plays brushed drums.&nbsp;\u201cJust sit and wait, don\u2019t move \u2014 just hesitate\/You can hope and pray; you can moan; maybe things will change,\u201d Jones croons over her warm, languid piano. \u201cYou feel your soul get hollowed out\/While the world implodes, you just live without.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The record \u2014 which also includes the Tweedy-assisted \u201cHeaven Above\u201d \u2014 marks Jones\u2019 second collaboration with the Wilco frontman, who co-wrote and produced two tracks on her 2019 LP, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/norah-jones-announces-experimental-new-project-begin-again-798815\/\"><em>Begin Again<\/em><\/a>. \u201cNorah\u2019s been a great friend for a long time and she\u2019s one of the most effortless musicians I\u2019ve ever played with,\u201d Tweedy tells <em>Rolling Stone.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Jones detailed the inspiration and creative process behind the album, which sprung from a productive session with her regular drummer Brian Blade.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLiving in this country \u2014 this world \u2014 the last few years, I think there\u2019s an underlying sense of, \u2018Lift me up. Let\u2019s get up out of this mess and try to figure some things out,&#8217;\u201d she said. \u201cIf there\u2019s a darkness to this album, it\u2019s not meant to be an impending sense of doom, if feels more like a human longing for connection. Some of the songs that are personal also apply to the larger issues we\u2019re all facing. And some of the songs that are about very specific larger things also feel quite personal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- .l-article-content__pull--left --> <\/p>\n<p>She added, \u201cI don\u2019t know if I was just in a zone or if this process turned it on, but I\u2019ve felt more creative in the last year than I ever have.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span>The project also features contributions from bassists Christopher Thomas, John Patitucci, Jesse Murphy, and Josh Lattanzi; drummers Nate Smith, Dan Rieser, and Josh Adams; keyboardist Pete Remm, pedal steel guitarist Dan Iead, violinist Mazz Swift, violist Ayane Kozasa, cellist Paul Wiancko, percussionist Mauro Refosco, background vocalists Ruby Amanfu and Sam Ashworth, trumpeter Dave Guy and tenor saxophonist Leon Michels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Pick Me Up Off the Floor<\/em> is available for <a href=\"https:\/\/norahjones.lnk.to\/PickMeUpOffTheFloorPR\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">pre-order<\/a> on vinyl, CD and download.
