Mandy Moore<\/a> stopped by The Tonight Show<\/a><\/em> to perform her recent song \u201cWhen I Wasn\u2019t Watching.\u201d Accompanied by her live band, the singer gave an impassioned performance of the nostalgia track, which comes off her recent album Silver Landings<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Silver Landings<\/em>, out now, is Moore\u2019s first new album since 2009\u2019s Amanda Leigh<\/em>. She originally released \u201cWhen I Wasn\u2019t Watching\u201d<\/a> last fall. The track, produced by Mike Viola, reflects on embracing your past.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think everyone\u2019s had the experience of feeling lost and not quite understanding how you\u2019ve found yourself at a certain point in your life,\u201d she said in a statement about the track. \u201cAnd I think the key is not to judge yourself for that. I\u2019m a big believer in the idea that what you\u2019ve journeyed through is ultimately going to factor into the person you become, and how you\u2019ll greet whatever big challenge you face next.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moore created the album with her husband Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, and recently told Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> that working with him was very encouraging.<\/p>\n

\u201cTaylor is truly one of the most unbelievably talented people on the planet,\u201d she said. \u201cI feel so lucky to be under the same roof with him. For the past five years that we\u2019ve been in each other\u2019s lives, he is always at a piano or holding a guitar in his hands \u2014 just noodling or practicing or writing a song. It was a foregone conclusion that we were going to make music together, but he has been my biggest champion. He was like, \u2018I just want to play guitar on your record. It may be fun to go on the road together!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
