Ariana Grande<\/a> implored her fans to take the coronavirus<\/a> pandemic more seriously in a series of tweets Sunday: \u201cIt is incredibly dangerous and selfish to take this situation that lightly.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI keep hearing from a surprising amount of people statements like \u2018this isn\u2019t a big deal\u2019\/\u2019we\u2019ll be fine\u2019\u2026 \u2018we still have to go about our lives\u2019 and it\u2019s really blowing my mind,\u201d Grande first wrote in her social media statement<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI understand if that is how u felt weeks ago. But please read about what\u2019s going on. Please don\u2019t turn a blind eye\u2026 The \u2018we will be fine because we\u2019re young\u2019 mindset is putting people who aren\u2019t young and\/or healthy in a lot of danger. You sound stupid and privileged and you need to care more about others. Like now.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Among the replies to Grande\u2019s tweets were fans informing the singer that, despite the outbreak and the recommended social distancing, many still needed to work.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Well some of us have to work!\u2019 i understand and entirely support your frustration. i do not mean to disrespect anyone who doesn\u2019t have the privilege of cancelled work or being able to call out of their work,\u201d Grande said in response. \u201cBut, this is a national emergency and a pandemic of global proportion.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Grande then encouraged followers to support the agreed-to Families First Coronavirus Response Act<\/a> (H.R. 6201). \u201cThese are the times when the world should rely on their governments to support the plan for all citizens to stay at home and lessen the threat of infection and the spread of the virus,\u201d she wrote.<\/span><\/p>\n

Grande\u2019s tweets followed a weekend of social media activity where young people gloated about frequenting bars, restaurants and public places in spite of the coronavirus outbreak. \u201cL<\/span>ike your hip hop yoga class can fucking wait i promise,\u201d Grande quipped<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
