Waxahatchee<\/a>\u2019s Katie Crutchfield gets realistic about love in her new song \u201cCan\u2019t Do Much.\u201d The track is the third single off her upcoming album Saint Cloud<\/em>, out March 27th on Merge Records.<\/p>\n

The clip \u2014 grainy to resemble a vintage film \u2014 opens with Crutchfield in a striking red blazer, performing the track with her band. \u201cWe will coalesce like heaven and hell\/My eyes roll around like dice on the felt,\u201d she sings. \u201cIn my loneliness, I\u2019m locked in a room\/When you see me I\u2019m honey on a spoon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Roses adorn Crutchfield\u2019s microphone \u00e0 la Linda Ronstadt, who heavily influenced Saint Cloud<\/em>: \u201cI\u2019ve become so obsessive about people like Lucinda Williams, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris,\u201d she recently told Rolling Stone<\/em>.<\/a> \u201cAll these country powerhouse women. I wanted to step into that power a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Crutchfield has been performing \u201cCan\u2019t Do Much\u201d live for two years. \u201cIt\u2019s meant to be an extremely unsentimental love song, a love song with a strong dose of reality,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was written early on in a relationship, where the feelings were super intense, but also fear or apprehension were sort of keeping me from totally relaxing in it yet. Sort of like \u2018It\u2019s annoying that I love you so much.\u2019 Totally unromantic, which sort of makes it really romantic to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCan\u2019t Do Much\u201d follows the singles \u201cLilacs<\/a>\u201d and \u201cFire.<\/a>\u201c<\/p>\n
