{"id":805340,"date":"2020-03-17T09:34:40","date_gmt":"2020-03-17T15:34:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=968396"},"modified":"2020-03-17T09:34:40","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T15:34:40","slug":"deep-purple-plan-21st-album-whoosh-for-spring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/deep-purple-plan-21st-album-whoosh-for-spring\/","title":{"rendered":"Deep Purple Plan 21st Album, \u2018Whoosh!\u2019, for Spring"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four years after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/deep-purple\/\" id=\"auto-tag_deep-purple\" data-tag=\"deep-purple\">Deep Purple<\/a>\u2019s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and three since their last album, the group will release their 21st LP, <em>Whoosh!<\/em>, later this spring.<\/p>\n<p>Once again, the band collaborated with producer Bob Ezrin (Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd) for the record, which will come out digitally, on CD and deluxe CD or double-vinyl editions on June 12th. The deluxe editions will come with a one-hour film of bassist Roger Glover in conversation with Ezrin, who produced the group\u2019s last two albums, as well as video of the band\u2019s full performance at 2017\u2019s Hellfest.<\/p>\n<p>The band says their motto for the sessions was: \u201cDeep Purple is putting the <em>Deep<\/em> back in Purple.\u201d <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-968484\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Deep-Purple_Whoosh_cover_4000x4000.jpg\" alt=\"Deep Purple Album Cover\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\"><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve included everything that made the whole band smile, including Bob Ezrin,\u201d guitarist Steve Morse said in a statement. \u201cWe\u2019ve always enjoyed making music and having the incredible luxury of a loyal audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Frontman Ian Gillan made a couple of unusual statements to complement the news of the album\u2019s release. \u201cAnother album?! Whoosh?!! Gordon Bennett!!!\u201d reads one. The other is fashioned like a poem or perhaps lyrics: \u201cWhen the Deep Purple falls\/Over sleepy garden walls\/And the stars begin to twinkle\/In the night. \u2026 \u201d<\/p>\n<p>Metallica\u2019s Lars Ulrich inducted Deep Purple into the Hall of Fame in 2016 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/read-lars-ulrichs-passionate-deep-purple-rock-hall-induction-178719\/\">a passionate speech<\/a> about their impact. \u201cThere\u2019s a picture on the nightstand next to my bed \u2026 of Deep Purple with my face photoshopped on top of [drummer] Ian Paice,\u201d he said. \u201cSorry, Ian, it was a present.
