Summit County on Tuesday <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.summitcountyco.gov\/civicalerts.aspx?AID=564\" target=\"_blank\">amended its public health order<\/a> to tighten \u201crestrictions to avoid overcrowding and accidental social gathering.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The updates are outlined below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Exempt businesses <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Businesses that carry exempt items \u2014 including groceries, medications, pet food and hardware, for example \u2014 cannot sell prohibited items at their stores.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor example, Walmart and Target carry groceries, pet food, prescription medications, OTC medications and cleaning supplies, but they must cordon off clothing, furniture, toys, etc.,\u201d according to an email from Summit County spokeswoman Julie Sutor.<\/p>\n<p>The restriction was tightened in an effort to \u201cavoid crowding and unnecessary social contacts,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Short-term housing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The county has ordered all lodging businesses \u2014 including hotels, motels, timeshares and short-term rentals \u2014 to be closed by noon Thursday, but county officials are clarifying that locals do not need to vacate if they live in housing that is considered a short-term rental.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are making accommodations for local workers living in housing that would otherwise fall under the short-term lodging category,\u201d Sutor wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone whose housing situation is \u201cunstable\u201d should call Summit County Public Health at 970-668-9161 \u201cso they can let us know their circumstances, and we can help them find housing,\u201d Sutor wrote.<\/p>\n<p><a
