Shortly after testing positive for COVID-19<\/a>, Jackson Browne<\/a> has dropped a new song, \u201cA Little Soon to Say.\u201d The track will be available digitally on Friday, March 27th, and featured on his upcoming album, slated for October 9th.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanna see you holding out your light\/I wanna see you light the way,\u201d he sings over a subtle, sparkling arrangement. \u201cBut whether everything will be alright\/it\u2019s just a little soon to say.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA Little Soon to Say\u201d was actually written prior to the coronavirus<\/a> pandemic, but Browne thought it appropriate to release now. \u201cI thought, \u2018Just do that now,’\u201d he tells Rolling Stone<\/em>. \u201cJust put it out now while these things are so uncertain.\u201d<\/p>\n

The track was inspired by the current generation and the environment. \u201c[I was] thinking about the generation \u2014 the Parkland students and Greta Thunberg and the young people who have been very vocal, saying, \u2018You\u2019re not making any real attempt to change things in a way for us to have the planet you had.\u2019 How do you pass this mess on to the next generation, the future generations?\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

\u201cA Little Soon to Say\u201d is the B-side to Browne\u2019s upcoming single \u201cDownhill From Everywhere.\u201d The songs will be out on vinyl and CD on May 29th and are currently available for pre-order on Browne\u2019s website. <\/a><\/p>\n

Browne is scheduled to embark on a joint tour with James Taylor<\/a> this summer, kicking off in New Orleans on May 15th. Taylor announced on Wednesday that he donated $1 million<\/a> to Massachusetts General Hospital to fight against the COVID-19<\/a> pandemic.<\/p>\n

As for Browne, he\u2019s currently at home under quarantine, where he\u2019s been the last 10 days with mild symptoms. He\u2019s been occupying himself phoning friends, watching movies and reading New York Times<\/em> op-eds on the virus.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important for us all to be pretty forthcoming about what we\u2019re going through,\u201d he says. \u201cOur experiences will be helpful for others to know. I don\u2019t think my case is that important, but it might be helpful to know that some people don\u2019t get this really bad. The idea that we can contribute to the overall herd immunity. You get over this as quickly as you can and be available to help others.\u201d<\/p>\n
