DILLON \u2014 There are now 11 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Summit County. This new positive case was confirmed on Thursday with the most recent case prior being confirmed on Monday<\/a>. <\/p>\n

In the county\u2019s announcement<\/a><\/i> of the new case they added that there are \u201cbottlenecks\u201d of pending tests at both state and private laboratories. Summit County residents were also reminded that the current shortage of test kits means testing is prioritized for first responders, healthcare providers and severely ill patients. Health officials have repeatedly stressed<\/a> that the number of confirmed cases are not indicative of the spread of the virus in the community. The very limited amount of testing being conducted means that the case count of 11 is an underrepresentation. <\/p>\n

The county has also said that they are no longer releasing information<\/a> about the individuals who test positive for COVID-19 as providing that information would be too much of a burden on health officials who are focused on managing the crisis. Health officials have said that they believe releasing information on the whereabouts of individuals prior to being tested positive would cause unnecessary panic and would deter patients from reporting illness.<\/p>\n

To mitigate the spread of COVID-19 the county has been under a shutdown order since the night of Monday, March 16<\/a>. Although Gov. Jared Polis\u2019 issued a statewide stay-at-home order that went into effect Thursday morning, Summit County has effectively been under a stay-at-home order<\/a> for over a week.<\/p>\n
