Elvis Costello<\/a> performed \u201c(What\u2019s So Funny \u2018Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding\u201d from his home in Vancouver, where he\u2019s spent the last two weeks in self-quarantine. Filmed for Artists4NHS,<\/a> all proceeds will go to the UK National Health Service<\/a> (NHS) amid the COVID-19<\/a> pandemic.<\/p>\n

After opening with his classic, Costello discussed the coronavirus<\/a> crisis. \u201cYou can look on social media to find out how you might contribute,\u201d he said. \u201cPretty much anything you do that adds to the solution rather than adds to the problem is the right thing to do, as you know. You don\u2019t need me to tell you that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s my favorite musical revolutionary behind us,\u201d he said, pointing to the photo of Louis Armstrong, \u201ckeeping us safe.\u201d He then reads fans\u2019 questions out loud, including a question about his opinion on Mad Love<\/em><\/a>, Linda Ronstadt\u2019s 1980 New Wave album that includes several covers of his songs, including \u201cAlison.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI have to be honest, when I heard her version, I thought she sang it well, but I really hated the arrangement,\u201d he said. He admitted he regrets the way he publicly noted this at the time. \u201cI was a little bit too full of myself, to say the least,\u201d he said. He urged listeners to watch the new documentary on the artist, The Sound of My Voice.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

Costello and the Imposters spent most of last year touring, recently wrapping up their \u201cJust Trust<\/a>\u201d North American tour last fall. According to the band, the leg was named after answers to musical questions like \u201cWill they play my favorite song?\u201d or, \u201cAre they going to frighten the horses with a lot of excellent songs that are rarely performed?\u201d Just before the trek, the band embarked on a summer 2019 tour<\/a> with Blondie.<\/p>\n
