The Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles \u2014 where Phoebe Bridgers<\/a> met Conor Oberst<\/a> \u2014 has launched a GoFundMe campaign<\/a> amid the coronavirus<\/a> pandemic.<\/p>\n

Bridgers posted a link to the theater\u2019s campaign, accompanied by a clip of her covering Oberst\u2019s solo track \u201cMamah Borthwick (a Sketch)\u201d from 2016\u2019s Ruminations<\/em>. \u201cIf you can, donate to save the venue where I met Conor,\u201d she wrote. \u201cHere\u2019s a Conor song.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bridgers first met Oberst there in the summer of 2016, when she performed at a secret show hosted by Oberst. They\u2019d go on to form the folk-pop duo , dropping a self-titled debut<\/a> in 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI definitely remember that very first moment of hearing her sing,\u201d Oberst told Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> last year. \u201cIt was just one of those voices that sounds completely unique \u2014 but also sounds like, \u2018There\u2019s that friend I should have had my whole life.’\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bootleg Theater has a GoFundMe goal of $25 thousand dollars. \u201cOur box office staff, bartenders, security, sound engineers and day-to-day staff rely on our regular programming for work,\u201d they wrote. \u201cToday, we are asking you to help our incredible, dedicated staff members make ends meet during this time of crisis in which we cannot operate as expected. All proceeds will be dispersed evenly to our staff. Thank you so, so much in advance for your time and kindness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bridgers and Oberst recently appeared as production assistants on Conan O\u2019Brien\u2019s new digital series, Meet the Conan Staff<\/em><\/a>. Bridgers released \u201cGarden Song<\/a>\u201d last month, her first new solo material in three years, accompanied by a video of her ripping a bong<\/a> and hanging out with fuzzy creatures.<\/p>\n
