{"id":805842,"date":"2020-03-30T11:26:53","date_gmt":"2020-03-30T17:26:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=975206"},"modified":"2020-03-30T11:26:53","modified_gmt":"2020-03-30T17:26:53","slug":"newport-festivals-foundation-announces-covid-19-musician-relief-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/newport-festivals-foundation-announces-covid-19-musician-relief-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"Newport Festivals Foundation Announces COVID-19 Musician Relief Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/NPF.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>As a response to the devastating toll COVID-19 has taken on independent musicians around the country, the Newport Festivals Foundation \u2014 which operates the longstanding Newport Folk and Jazz festivals \u2014 has announced that it will be allocating some of its funds to an emergency musician relief fund.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this dark time, we feel blessed to be able to provide some small comfort for those whose songs carry us through each day,\u201d the festival\u2019s executive produce Jay Sweet said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Newport\u2019s musician relief fund will include funding for small micro-grants of $300 or less for immediate\/dire financial concerns, as well as more extensive grants offered to help cover lost income related to COVID-19.
