Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, NPR<\/a> has been bringing their Tiny Desk Concert series to artist\u2019s homes, recently with performances by Soccer Mommy<\/a> and Margo Price.<\/a> Now, the series has sprinkled some yacht rock magic into your quarantine, with Michael McDonald<\/a> performing Doobie Brothers<\/a> hits from his home in Santa Barbara, California.<\/p>\n

\u201cHope you\u2019re all staying healthy and staying safe out there,\u201d McDonald told the camera, after opening with his emotional solo track \u201cMatters of the Heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWishing you all the best of luck and Godspeed through this event we\u2019re all living through,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Sitting next to a Tiny Desk Concert poster McDonald drew himself \u2014 surrounded by guitars and keyboards \u2014 the singer launched into the Doobie classics \u201cMinute by Minute\u201d and \u201cWhat a Fool Believes.\u201d \u201cIf you know the words, sing along with me at home,\u201d he said, smiling.<\/p>\n

The Doobie Brothers will be inducted into the 2020 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame<\/a> alongside Nine Inch Nails, Notorious B.I.G., Whitney Houston and others. Originally slated for May 2nd at Cleveland\u2019s Public Hall, the ceremony will now take place on November 7th.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the culmination of a lot of years of traveling together and working together,\u201d McDonald told Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> of the induction. \u201cWe are fortunate that our friendship has remained the most important thing to us through all the various incarnations of the band. We all had an appreciation for what the band has meant to each of us individually and what it\u2019s been as an experience collectively.\u201d<\/p>\n

As of right now, the Doobie Brothers\u2019 50th anniversary tour<\/a> is still on, with McDonald joining the band for the first time since 1995. The trek kicks off in Jacksonville, Florida, on June 12th.<\/p>\n
