On Wednesday, Grimes<\/a> released the music video<\/a> for her song \u201cYou\u2019ll Miss Me When I\u2019m Not Around\u201d\u2026kind of. The clip features the artist also known as Claire Boucher in full costume and makeup, keeping in style with the rest of her sci-fi looks for the Miss Anthropocene<\/em> era. But instead of an elaborate CGI background, Grimes is swaying in front of a greenscreen, and the different angles for the video are only lightly edited together.<\/p>\n

Grimes is encouraging fans to use these unfinished greenscreen clips \u2014 as well as the raw effects files from the video and audio stems from the song \u2014 to create their own visuals for \u201cYou\u2019ll Miss Me When I\u2019m Not Around.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGrimes grew up on bootleg sampling and DIY creation and considers it a vital part of exploring personal style and creativity,\u201d a statement reads.<\/p>\n

Video creators will be able to post their work to YouTube and share it on Twitter with the hashtag #grimesartkit. Grimes will be resharing and posting her favorites on her own social media channels.<\/p>\n

Miss Anthropocene<\/em><\/a> was released this past February, and also includes the songs \u201cViolence,\u201d \u201cIdoru\u201d<\/a> \u201cDelete Forever,\u201d<\/a> and \u201cMy Name Is Dark.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

In Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2018s first-ever digital cover story<\/a>, released in March, Grimes explained her devotion to digital production as a forward-thinking method for creativity. \u201cI don\u2019t want to be practicing my guitar daily,\u201d she said. \u201cThis would be such a massive time-suck! It\u2019s just not an actively creative endeavor\u2026I\u2019d rather learn the future skills that will age better and have more applications.\u201d<\/p>\n
